Amazing resonance from Egypt and Sicily
Today I want to take you on a truly magical place in the heart of Sicily, look at this picture below where you can see the entries of the six caves on two floors of Gurfa... |
 |
But the rock of the hill Gurfa near Palermo conceals a truly extraordinary structure, dating from the Bronze Age (2500 BC) or even before and dug into the red sandstone of the cliff: that is the main hall connecting these caves. This is what you see on the second picture it is called a "tholos", a High room bell-shaped with a diameter of approximately 16.50 meters and a height of 15.85 meters with a hole at the top and allowing light to pass during the Spring equinox and completely dug by human hands.
However, and this is most extraordinary: according to the historian Carmelo Montagna who studied the archaeological complex of Gurfa and according many others to which I join, this extraordinary chamber found under the Gurfa rock would be nothing less than the famous tomb of king Minos of Crete.
I remind you that according to the Greek historian Herodotus and Diodorus, King Minos of Crete, who arrived in Sicily to capture his genius architect Daedalus, who had fled the labyrinth he had built, was killed by the Sican king and was buried in the territory of Camico. And the rock of Gurfa are in the Camico territory and it is the only place with cavities heavily worked. Near the site of Gurfa, in S.Angelo Muxaro, in 1930 the archaeologist Paolo Orsi found extraordinary artifacts from the time of Minos as the two gold rings that you see here in photo.... |

According to many researchers the reason for the hasty departure of King Minos to Sicily was the natural disasters that have occurred around 1250 BC, the destruction of Tera and the volcanic explosion of Santorino, the destruction of the Minoan civilization yet so flourishing... And there are many multiple material traces of King Minos and Daedalus with his ingenious and huge constructions and we know that the interior of the tomb of Minos in Sicily was destroyed later by the tyran Terone and then the king Minos remains were returned to the Crete...
Now I want to emphasize the fact that around Minos (in Greek Μίνως) the word giant, gigantic often comes up… when the king ascended the throne he received as a sign of God Poseidon a giant bull out of the sea, his architect Daedalus built extraordinary gigantic stone buildings and his statuary style called "Daedalic" was monumental. And his grave allegedly in Gurfa is the largest tholos of the Mediterranean .... Who is this King Minos surrounded all his life long by monumental buildings? Is he a former Giant a hero from the past , or rather several Minos? Indeed several researchers have discovered the existence of several Minos and I can understand why ... |

The two golden rings | Egyptian Menes |
Minos was in fact a title held by the kings of Crete exactly in the same time than in Egypt the name Menes. Minos was in fact derived from the Egyptian title Menes (Meni in Egyptian, Μήνης in Greek) ... Menes was not the name of one pharaoh, as Ka, Narmer or Scorpio but rather a title applied to kings of that time in protodynastic Egypt exactly as Minos. Thus the title Meni is taken mainly in the lists of the pharaohs in the papyrus of Turin and in Abydos list and according to Edwards Menes means "one who endures" and he tells us that this should be an epithet, a title referring to a hero the past ...... Herodotus also quotes an older form of Menes name : Μιν transliterated in Min ..... even closer to Minos and the Egyptian god Min .... And also later, the Roman « Manes », name representing the souls of the loved ones, those living below in the underworld ... Manes derived from « manus » meaning: « good ». When they were building a town they dug a round hole (the mundus) symbolizing the sky and a stone was affixed to it (lapis Manalis) representing the door of the underworld, the hell. They used to overturn this stone in August, October and November ...
Moreover thanks to the French linguist Hubert La Marle who deciphered the linear A writing ,we know that on a stelae in Linear A , the words : « Mwi nuja ro », « ro-ja « (The King, ), » Mwi-nu « (Minos) were found in an ancient Indo Iranian language and that the name « Mwi-nu » leading to « Minos » in Greek would be the equivalent of « Muni » in sanskrit: the ascetic or hermit and that this would be a title often written beside names on the stelaes ....
For me there is anyway a great link between the Egyptian Menes title and the Greek Minos title and name and there is a great link between the gigantic stone works , the underground caverns and the ancient heroes may be giants of the past .... |
